GeogITs can be placed on a restricted area of the school's website
so that students are able to access the resources on any Internet
linked computer at anytime. The resources can support the development
of VLEs and provide a ready made bank of geographical enquiries.
This feature actively promotes independent learning and at Key
Stage 3 the assessment for learning tool enables students to measure
their level of attainment as well as identifying targets for furhter
improvement.A number of schools have invested in the full KS3 pack
because it shows progression over the 3 year period ( based on the
ICTAC recommendations). The assessment tool can be applied each half
term to track pupil progress.
Each GeogIT is self contained and as the tasks are designed to be
covered in a 40 minute period it is ideal as a homework activity. The
flexibility of the GeogIT also helps to overcome problems associated
with access to computers during geography lessons.
