Enquiry 'Ind1' 'Industry- classified and as a system'.

Case study analysis through virtual field trips and annotating downloaded images. Employment structure data from the Internet analysed by using Excel to produce pie charts, multi line graphs and compound bar graphs. 

This enquiry consists of the following GeogITs;-

GeogIT1 Employment structure witin the UK oil industry..

GeogIT2 Employment structure, an MEDC and LEDC compared.

GeogIT3 Comparing the employment structure for the local area with the UK average.

GeogIT4 Industry as a system- Cameron Balloons.

GeogIT5 Industry as a system- A UK hill farm, eg of primary industry.

GeogIT6 Extension material, exam question and glossary.

Enquiry 'Ind2' 'Industrial location'.

Students undertake a virtual field trip of a UK oil refinery then annotate an aerial photograph of the area. Students also collect record and analyse data for a piece of virtual fieldwork at a UK Science Park. Comparisons are then made with a Science Park in the Ruhr

GeogIT2 Cambridge Science Park, data collection.

GeogIT3 Cambridge Science Park, data analysis.

GeogIT4 Extension material- 'The Science Park Gelsenkirchen', exam question and glossary.

Enquiry 'Ind3' 'The Globalisation of Industry'.

Students complete three activities 1) Illustrate why Toyota cars are built in Derbyshire, 2) Produce a PowerPoint presentation explaining where in SE Asia a new cycle factory should be built, 3) Compile a campaign poster tackling the problem of TNCs exploiting LEDCs.

GeogIT1 Why did Toyota choose to build their cars at Burnaston, Derbyshire?

GeogIT2 Locating a factory in an NIC.

GeogIT3 Nike, a TNC in a LEDC.

GeogIT4 Extension material, exam question and glossary.
