Each GeogIT is a partially completed word document that links the
Internet to the software that is already on the computer namely Word,
Excel and PowerPoint.
GeogITs comprise extensively of the following threads;-
-
Using Excel to enable students to turn tables of data into a
form that can be better analysed. Students are taken through the stages
that will turn tables of data into climate graphs, population
pyramids, compound bar graphs, multi-line graphs, pie charts and
scatter graphs.
-
Downloading images which are then annotated, or
labelled to emphasise features. Map extracts are used in a similar way
as are aerial images to show factors of location. Satellite images are
used extensively.
-
Students compiling their own PowerPoint presentations after
having been given the scenario, the sites to visit and the themes that
should be covered on each slide.
