bolteducation was set up in July 2002 as a small business writing interactive web based learning resources for KS3 and KS4 geogrpahy. It is owned by a husband and wife team who decided to pool their experience and skills to design relevant, user friendly resources to promote standards in geography. The business is committed to sustainability.
Paul and Paula Bryant met as geography teachers in a large urban comprehensive school though their careers have since taken slightly different paths.
Paul's expertise in ICT has been recognised by a company who have recruited him as a learning adviser with a whole school perspective on e-learning. However, he continues to write GeogITs as a personal interest. His work in this field was inspired by his work in FE as a Learning Director for online delivery and his subsequent work as an ICT consultant. His real passion remains firmly with geography and environmental science and he aims to embed the new technologies within these curriculum areas effectively and inclusively to bridge the divide between digital natives and digital immigrants. Paul understands what is needed to embrace the new technologies in teaching and learning. He has experience of teaching in a large urban comprehensive school, colleges of FE and as a visiting lecturer at university. He has a BSc honours degree in geography and a MSc in environmental pollution control. His specialism in sustainable development is a particualr asset to the business.
The business is ably supported by Paula Bryant. Having worked as a LA officer and OFSTED team inspector for geography, Paula is aware of the demands placed on teachers to continually improve standards. She was head of geography in a large urban comprehensive school with a keen interest in promoting pupil progress through developing effective assessment strategies. She now undertakes a variety of projects relating to inclusive practices in education as well as part time teaching. She has a BSc honours degree in geography and a MEd.
The couple have three children age 18, 16 and 10 who ensure their parents keep a healthy perspective on life whilst offering a significant level of challenge when it comes to learning using i pods, mobiles and facebook!
