Feedback is really important and teachers' evaluations of the resource are greatly valued. It is hoped that the resources will always reflect what teachers want and will further e-learning in geography.
Feedback is made easy via the email link to bolteducation .
If you want to contact a geography teacher who is currently using GeogITs, please get in touch with our office and you will be given the email address of a contact who will provide you with an unbiased evaluation.
You can also visit the Becta website for an independent review (May06).
A sample GeogIT is included in Fred Martin's book "e-geography Using ICT in quality geography"
Look out for the full evaluation on Teacher's TV (Secondary Geography) transmitted in the spring term 2007. Hyperlink on home page. |

The GeogIT has been designed to support both specialist and
non-specilaist teachers. It is presented as a partially completed
Word document for students but a separate file exists for teachers
which includes suggested responses. This facilitates a moderated
approach to marking across the department.
The GeogIT can be used as a template. If a copy is made, teachers
can modify the content to meet the specific needs of different
learners. The new version can then be networked. Teachers employed by
the purchasing school can make amendments to the format for sharing
within the department. It remains the property of the school and must
not be sent elsewhere.
bolteducation supports teachers through INSET and workshop
sessions. If you would like some help in making greater and more
effective use of the Internet and existing Microsoft software to
promote learning in geography then contact us to see what we can offer.

The GeogIT can be used for whole class teaching as it has IWB application. The revised GeogITs have starters and plenaries to generate lively debate and exercise thinking.
In addition, the Thinking Stills section on this website will host some thought provoking images that can be considered during lesson time.
Teachers can demonstrate a range of ICT activities using the GeogIT. For example, showing how to complie a climate graph in Excel from current data accessed via the Internet so that pupils can then complete their own climate graphs via the Intranet / Extranet for homework. |

GeogITs can be placed on a restricted area of the school's website
so that students are able to access the resources on any Internet
linked computer at anytime. The resources can support the development
of VLEs and provide a ready made bank of geographical enquiries.
This feature actively promotes independent learning and at Key
Stage 3 the assessment for learning tool enables students to measure
their level of attainment as well as identifying targets for furhter
improvement.A number of schools have invested in the full KS3 pack
because it shows progression over the 3 year period ( based on the
ICTAC recommendations). The assessment tool can be applied each half
term to track pupil progress.
Each GeogIT is self contained and as the tasks are designed to be
covered in a 40 minute period it is ideal as a homework activity. The
flexibility of the GeogIT also helps to overcome problems associated
with access to computers during geography lessons.
